It was built in the year 1367 in the city of Gulbarga in the state of Karnataka by Mohammed Shah I. A Persian Architect by the name of Rafi was given the rare duty of designing the architecture of this historically famous building. Hence the amalgamation of both Indian and Persian art form can be traced in this structure. This highly appreciated mosque in India is one of the rarest ones in terms of unequal precedence as it does not have a courtyard but is covered by a roof.
The next day, I decided to visit yet another historical monument which was the Jama Masjid Gulbarga. I hired a car to visit that place and I reached the monument in great expectation because I had heard a lot about its uniqueness. After reaching the place I hired a local guide who could supply me with background information about this place as I was really curious to know more about it. The guide was quite knowledgeable and gave me the desired info. It was built in the year 1367 in the city of Gulbarga in the state of Karnataka by Mohammed Shah I. This highly appreciated mosque in India is one of the rarest ones in terms of unequal precedence as it does not have a courtyard but is covered by a roof. In general almost all of the mosques in India have a courtyard. When I reached inside the mosque I found the Central or the middle hall was occupied with clamors of passages and each of them was roofed. The largest dome is built in the western side of the mosque but there are small and beautifully constructed domes in all the corners. The northern part of the mosque has the main or the chief entrance for admission inside this building and the doorway is arch shaped. The sunlight enters inside the mosque and leaves a mesmerizing effect. The picturesque quality of the surroundings helped me to click many beautiful photographs. I was very excited as the pictures would serve as a reminder for this place. Jama Masjid Gulbarga has the distinction of being one of the most attractive mosques in Southern Asiatic region because of its unique architectural designs. I have certainly not seen anything so striking that has left me with awestruck quality. It has been a really treasurable experience but then I was ready to continue my journey to the next destination.
