Sinhagad Fort Pune : A visit to the Sinhagad Fort Pune is truly liberating because of its rich past history. Perched on the isolated cliff of the Sahyadri Mountains, it has natural protection by its steep slopes. I got to know that it was earlier known as Kondana Fort. Tanaji Malusare, laid his life fighting for it under Shivaji. Shivaji aptly commented “the fort is won but the lion is gone”. This is how it got its name sinha, meaning lion. Really, worth a visit according to me.
