The province rich in folk songs, music, dances, folk tales like Gondal, Lavani, Powada, etc. is the essence of Maharashtra’s vivid and frolicking culture. The most joyous homeland located in the Western Ghats of Southern Maharashtra is also called with the name of ‘Dakshin Kashi’. Besides all these the city is rich in its archives of preserves in the museum. It is the home positioned in the heart of city to display the innumerable costumes, trophies, weapons, and silver elephant encumbers possessed by Kolhapur’s Maharaja Shahji Bhonsle Chhattrapati.
The sunrise from my room’s frame was marvelling when my deep-slept senses were rousing with its first rays. It was time to boost with rich breakfast. I dialled the number of the hotel’s restaurant from my room’s intercom to explore the menu card for a sound breakfast. Till the breakfast arrived, I prepared myself to shower, dress and repacked my travelling accessories. Finishing the prompt breakfast served by the hotel’s kitchen, I headed towards the expedition of Shree Chhattrapati Shahu Museum Kolhapur. The receptionist managed a cab for me to take off. It is a perfect place with storehouse of numerous historic artefacts that are adorable for the one who admire the historical importance of our India, including me. I add every flavour in my travelling life, be it trekking on the mountains, water sporting in the beaches, camping in the hilly terrains or exploring the museum of Kolhapur. Designed by Charles Mant, a British architect, the new palace was the origin of late Maharajas of Maharashtra. The museum depicts the journey of Maharaja Bhonsle from a passionate hunter to a communal agitator through the exhibits of paintings. The massive mansion is constructed of polished black stone with an imposing tower in the middle of eight oblique building, which added elegance to its construction. I could mark the royalty and dignity of the late Maharaja from his photographs, jewelleries, embroidered items, and many more. By the time I could think of resting a while, it was the time to escape for the other flavour of my travel life, i.e. wildlife at Radhanagari Sanctuary, which is positioned nearby Shree Chhattrapati Shahu Museum Kolhapur.
